In my twenties I spent some time in the Santo Daime - a religion from Brazil with influences from deep within the forest and also from the Catholic church. It was vibrant and eclectic. I will tell the full story one day. In the meantime, I came across this song. I listened to it a lot back then. It’s innocent and sweet. A simple hymn with a South American flavour. A girl sings it here accompanied by guitar. The last two lines are my favourite.
A minha mãe é a flor mais cheirosa
Que existe no meu jardim
My mother is the most fragrant flower
That exists in my garden
It’s by Odemir from his hinario Quadro Azul. It’s called Rei Sábio. 🎵
