Guilty pleasure? Perhaps. Not for the feint hearted? Definitely not. I watched Nobody last night based on this bus clip that popped into my yt feed recently (like I said - it’s not for the feint hearted). There’s something about the main character, which had me transfixed. He needs a break, he’s not the man he once was, he knows that. He’s become a shell but deep down he knows who he really is. And it’s simmering! This is about him finding himself again. In the most fantastical way. I watched him rekindle his love for life with grit and passion. It’s dad stuff. He’s a dad hero. He’s a middle-aged hero. There are even some scenes with an A-Team type feel…nostalgic for sure.
I love Bob Odenkirk. He’s just so good in this role. It was made for him. His facial expressions and camera presence alone make it perfect. It’s funny, violent, slick, melancholic, touching with full on fight scenes and lots of weird and wonderful humour. I had no idea Christopher Lloyd was in it too - what a treat his character was. Great, feel good stuff - despite the violence - with kind stories running through. Not to mention a catto within the first few scenes 😻 A little gem.
